Virgina Creeper Experience 2006 and 2004
In the Fall of 2004 Kathryn and I had the great experience of heading up to Damascus Va. to ride bikes down the Virgina Creeper Trail. For those of you who do not know about this fantastic adventure, I highly recommend you give it a try. You rent your bikes, hop in a van that takes you to the top of a mountain and then you ride your bike down an old railroad grade bed. The trail borders a beautiful trout stream and is a great place to take your dog. Even if your dog is an 18 lbs Chiuachiua named Ruprick. My hat was off to my courageous wife who road the trail 8 months pregnant.
On our second trip to the Virginia Creeper, we traded our Chiuachiua and fly rod for two wonder-eyed childern. The weather had a chill, but the skies were blue and the color change in the leaves was top notch. We spent the night in a little rental cabin a few miles away. The owner showed us around and told us to please tell her if the hot tub gave us a rash. Nice. We made a fire outside and taught our daughters about smoore's, hot-dogs, and why you shouldn't get in other people's hot tubs. Hopefully this last lesson will pay off when they go to high school. I recommend this trip to everyone!
